Exhibitions, Talks and Workshops about Bonsai

The Bonsai (盆栽) is a Japanese word that literally means bon or plate and sai, that is to say, nature, and refers to the art of growing trees and plants, reducing its size using techniques such as transplanting, pruning, wiring, etc., and by modeling its shape to create a style that reminds us of a scene from nature. Of Chinese origin, this technique was brought to Japan about 800 years ago, reaching a high degree of perfection.

Bizkaiko Bonsai Elkartea / Bonsai Pagasarri

Bonsai Pagasarri Association was established in 2009 to bring together all the fans and people fond of this hobby in the province of Bizkaia. By means of people known of courses, contacts, and especially through the existing forums on the internet today about Bonsai and Suiseki, it was decided to create this association, in order to have a fixed venue where to share and exchange knowledge, and disseminate and display this Japanese art which is so little known in Bizkaia. Over time, the association is established in the cultural center "Clara Campoamor" (Barakaldo), where members, currently 25 members, meet every Saturday afternoon, in the classroom 3 of the center.
